Of course, the best Lamborghini ever made also had to be the one that most people will associate with it. The Miura was the first production mid-engined supercar, and as such laid down the template for every hypercar and most of the supercars you’ll find on the road today. That engine positioning – only ever seen before on racing cars – not only gave the Miura exceptional handling balance, but also a remarkably low nose, making it one of the most beautiful cars anyone had ever seen. It was a legend in its time, and remains so today – and that’s why it’s the best car Lamborghini’s ever made.
Lamborghini 350/400 GT
The 350 GT was the car that started it all for Lamborghini – the company’s first production car and the one tasked by Ferrucio Lamborghini with taking the fight to Ferrari. 120 were sold – enough to make it profitable – and Lamborghini built on his early success by enlarging the 350 GT’s 3.5-litre V12 engine to create the 400 GT, with a 4.0-litre powerplant. This continued the 350 GT’s good work, selling 273 examples. Lamborghini was off and running.
